Résumé de la présentation
« The people of the locality of Ciudad Bolívar, in Bogotá, are no different to about half of the population of Latin America. They have carved out their place in the world and built their homes and communities on the outskirts of the planned modern” city and on the margins of political and economic power. Despite their tenaciousness, when a museum was to be inaugurated on this territory, they were originally not called upon to participate in its content development. But what stories would be meaningful to them? Between 2020 and 2021, a group of staff at the Museo de Bogotá led by me (Curator) set off to answer this question. In this presentation, I will highlight the ways in which the answers to our questions intertwined discrimination and stigmatization with environmental injustice, and how the museum responded. To do so, I will draw upon previous work at the Museum of Memory of Colombia, as well as critical reflections stemming from the SSHRC Partnership Engage Localities of resistance, communities of care project. »
